Spring Fairycore Outfit Essentials

Hello, and welcome to another blog post on fairycore fashion. This post, as the title suggests, will specifically focus on whimsical wardrobe essentials (6 to be precise) for spring fairycore outfits. Although I only have 6 spring fairycore outfit essentials so far, please comment below with any ideas that I missed and I’ll be sure to add them!

1. Cute yet Comfortable Shoes

So there are quite a variety of shoes that would be suitable for spring fairycore outfits, from ballet flats to Mary-janes to platforms. But my personal favourite are sneakers. Mine are white (I know, I know!) with these purple flowers and yes, I did buy them second-hand. Also yes I know they could be cleaner but, firstly, they are hardly new. And, secondly, I think the dirt and fadedness adds to the fairycore aesthetic which often involves being outdoors. You know, where there is lots of dirt.

2. Floral Bag

Flowers…for spring. Groundbreaking, I know. But, whether you see flowers as a classic or a cliché, you have to admit they’re a wonderful whimsical addition to spring fairycore outfits.

This crochet flower-shaped bag blends whimsy with practicality that is required of us in our everyday lives and you can find the downloadable pdf pattern here.

3. Flowy Dress

A flowy dress, in whichever length you prefer, is perfect for spring because of it’s femininity and grace with which it drapes to your body. You can easily layer a turtleneck and tights underneath while it’s still cooler. Or wear a shawl or cardigan over it. Either way the flowy dress will still be ready for frolicking in a meadow or two. I chose a flowy maxi dress to emphasise the flowiness since spring, as the name suggests, is about movement after a hibernation (that’s winter). Your flowy dress can be in any colour or colours you choose but I personally think that the fairycore aesthetic is a more colourful one. For me at least. But, whichever colour you choose, you can always add a more whimsical touch through your accessories. I have a tutorial for a similar maxi dress here, with elasticated straps and pockets!

4. Shawl

Even if the days are getting warmer the evenings and nights will still be chilly. That’s why I recommend having a shawl or poncho to drape over your outfit to stay cozy. My shawl is a sparkly silver with fringe but you can also have a lacy (or not) shawl in any colour/s or patterns you like!

The silvery shawl pictured was a gift from a few years back.

5. Something Lacy

The soft, feminine vibe of lace is perfect for spring. And you can find lace in a variety of colours. If you aren’t into having entire garments made of lace (such as the top with buttons I have pictured), then you can also incorporate lace into your spring wardrobe through trims and accessories.

6. Wide Leg Trousers

Okay this title is a teensy bit deceiving, but hear me out please. The image I have is technically of wide leg JEANS but they’re almost the same thing. Jeans are just trousers made of denim, basically. I think a wide leg is perfect for spring because the proportions and silhouette will no longer be hidden by a huge coat. So you can show off your smaller waist with tucked in sweaters/jerseys or a cropped jacket, and then have the flowy wide legs that move as you walk. The pictured wide leg jeans have embroidered flowers all over them but if you don’t want to be that extra it’s perfectly alright as well.

Where to Buy Spring Fairycore Outfit Essentials

There are many options when it comes to procuring spring fairycore outfit essentials. From buying second-hand to DIY/upcycling existing garments to buying brand new. Personally I try as much as possible to buy second-hand or make my own clothes but it’s not always easy. I know it can be frustrating to not be able to buy the exact piece I have shown on my blog but please consider the how your purchases impact the planet and the garment workers themselves. If you buy something second-hand you can find more unusual pieces than the generic fast-fashion slop. And if you DIY something it will be completely one-of-a-kind.

Once again, please comment below with any spring fairycore outfit essentials that I missed and I’ll be sure to add them!
